looking for inspiration . . .

f o r   s t a i r   r u n n e r s
The other day I was asked my thoughts on stair runners.
Well, this is what I think...
Like any beautiful rug they add warmth, texture, some color and create a finished look.
Not to mention they make for a safer and quieter staircase.
I say ... add the runner.
Love them!

IF I . . .

HAD A YARD

This is what I would like.
It's private, secure, lush
and right in the middle of the city . . .  perfection!

Hope you are having a good week!

Design To The Letter..continued

J. . . is for  J I M   J A R M U S C H

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.”
― Jim Jarmusch

Jim Jarmusch is the award winning film director, screen writer, composer, and editor best known for his independent films such as Stranger Than Paradise and Down By Law.

Whether or not you agree with this ..."Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere...", we all have been inspired by random things in our life ... or pinterest!
Finding inspiration anywhere and everywhere is what its all about.
See something, grab it... just make it your own.
Here are a few images that inspire me or at the very least make me happy!

What do you think....?

H O R I Z O N T A L  or  V E R T I C A L

I think it's safe to say... most of us (in blog world anyway) love stripes.
Stripes can be really versatile too. They obviously come in all colors, sizes and styles ... contemporary, classic, bold, subtle, thick, thin.
That's one thing I love about design. You can take one element that's been done before and seen often and totally make it your own.  So, which do you like best
... horizontal or vertical?
